hata Tennis program

HATA Tennis Program - TRAINING

 

Building Skills, Confidence & Community Through Tennis.

Ages: Open to junior youth (5 years and older) and community members of all ages

Levels: Beginner, Intermediate & Advanced

Sessions: Ten (10) months out of the year, adjusted for seasonal weather conditions.

Focus Areas: Observational assessment of player skill & aptitude, skill development, physical fitness, mental toughness, strategy, and sportsmanship.

HATA Weekly Schedule (Determined by zip code)

2 days per week. Check calendar for schedule

Every other week - 3 days per week, including 1 weekend day (Saturday or Sunday). Check calendar for schedule

Beginner Program: Foundations of Tennis

Goal:

Introduce fundamental skills in a fun, engaging way while building confidence on the court.

 

Phase 1: Introduction to Tennis 

  • Introduction to Sportsmanship

  • Proper grip techniques (Eastern, Continental, Western)

  • Basic strokes (forehand, backhand, volleys)

  • Footwork fundamentals and movement drills

  • Understanding the court and scoring system

  • Rallying basics (short-court play)

 

Phase 2: Developing Consistency & Court Awareness

  • Shot accuracy and control

  • Serve fundamentals and return positioning

  • Net play and basic doubles strategy

  • Point construction and movement efficiency

 

Phase 3: Match Play & Game Strategy

  • Applying learned skills in real match situations

  • Shot selection and rally construction

  • Keeping score and understanding match rules

  • Developing mental focus and resilience

Advanced Program: Competitive & Tactical Training

Goal:

Enhance competitive play with advanced techniques, mental toughness,

and tactical awareness.

 

Phase 1: High-Intensity Skill Development

  • Advanced forehand/backhand techniques

  • Serve variety (kick, slice, flat)

  • Speed & agility drills for faster court coverage

  • Stroke depth and shot placement

 

Phase 2: Tactical Strategy & Mental Toughness

  • Constructing points & game plans

  • Adjusting play style for different opponents

  • Improving stamina & endurance

  • Developing a strong mental game (handling pressure, confidence)

 

Phase 3: Competitive Play & Tournament Readiness

  • Match preparation & pre-game routines

  • Managing match momentum & recovery strategies

  • Advanced doubles tactics & teamwork

  • Goal setting for future development
